About the opportunity The role of the Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients / clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.

Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary full-time role, commencing 09/11/2026 - 28/11/2027.

Base salary range: $8511.50 - $10791.60 p.f. (L18-L27)





Attraction & Retention up to $111,029 pa.

Regional & Rural Attraction Allowance up to $13,334 pa.

Vehicle allowance up to $25,500 p.a.

Professional Development Leave + Allowance $21,500 pa.

Locality allowance + Leave Loading 17.5% pa. + more benefits

12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

Qualified as a Medical Practitioner, Qualifications in speciality areas and current registrations and/or eligible for registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.

FRACP, Clinical Haematology and FRCPA, Haematology.

Travel: This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.

This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
