The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Configuration Manager to support the technical configuration of a heavy armour vehicle fleet for the Australian Army. This is a great opportunity for a technically strong configuration management professional to provide advice across both a legacy fleet and new vehicles being introduced into service.
You'll operate under general supervision, applying advanced technical principles to solve complex problems independently. You'll be a trusted technical voice -- contributing to technical conferences and working groups, negotiating with engineers and officials to resolve critical project issues, and providing high-level guidance to designers and less-experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced technical principles and independently solve complex technical problems under general supervision
- Contribute to technical conferences, working groups and engagements, negotiating with key engineers and officials to resolve critical project issues
- Provide high-level technical guidance to designers and less-experienced engineers, offering trusted interpretations, advice and direction
- Manage comprehensive configuration control processes throughout their lifecycle, including baseline establishment, change management and audit support
- Oversee vehicle technical data packages, configuration records and maintenance history to support sustainment and upgrade activities
- Utilise Configuration Management Tools (CMT), Asset Maintenance Planning Systems (AMPS) and stock control systems to maintain accurate asset and configuration data
- Collaborate closely with engineering, sustainment, logistics and operational teams to ensure configuration data validates vehicle readiness
- Conduct configuration audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with Defence Configuration Management standards
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy, reporting capabilities and configuration management processes
Required
- Current NV1 security clearance
- Minimum 5 years' Defence-related experience in data and configuration management, ideally within Land Systems
- Mechanical trade background
- Knowledge and experience of Defence Configuration Management frameworks and Land Systems policies, with a clear understanding of vehicle lifecycle sustainment
- Demonstrated experience using Configuration Management tools such as CMT-L, Teamcenter or ERP systems (JIRA experience highly regarded)
- Well-developed analytical and documentation skills, including experience managing Technical Data Packages, configuration audits and sustainment records
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary Defence project and sustainment teams
- Prior experience working on heavy armoured vehicles highly desirable
Salary
$165,000 - $170,000 (incl. Super)
