HR in Health is akin to an employer association. Our aim is to educate our members, along with the private health care sector nationally, about their workplace and award compliance obligations, while giving them relevant business and solutions-orientated strategies and resources.

We don't do cookie-cutter and we don't do transactional. We're not a law firm and we're not an internal HR department. We sit alongside our members as their trusted advisers, and we do it well.

The role

We're looking for a Senior Workplace Advisor who can hit the ground running. You'll take on and detangle complex interpersonal workplace conflicts, including the ones carrying real potential exposure to a claim.

You'll also be a trusted partner to our members across the whole employment lifecycle, from onboarding through to performance, compliance and culture. You won't just answer the question in front of you — you'll coach practice owners and managers to build employment foundations that actually stick.

This is not entry-level work. You'll be trusted with the matters that keep practice owners awake at night, and you'll have a senior team around you while you do it.

Where the role sits

You'll report to Vanessa James-McPhee, our Head of Workplace Advisory. We're a small team, which means you won't be a number here. There's a lot of genuine collaboration on organisational decisions, so if you've got a better idea, we want to hear it.

What you'll be doing

- Taking on and untangling complex interpersonal workplace conflicts, including those carrying potential exposure to a claim
- Drafting employer responses in workers' compensation matters
- Providing expert workplace advisory support across the full employment lifecycle, including onboarding, contracts, performance management,



terminations and everything in between
- Supporting members through complex matters such as investigations, disputes and restructures
- Building genuine relationships with practice owners and managers, becoming their go-to person for all things HR and employee relations
- Educating and empowering members to handle employment matters with confidence, teaching them the “why” and not just handing over an answer
- Presenting at member webinars and industry conferences, and contributing content to our e-learning platform
- Staying across legislative changes and translating them into plain-English guidance that health practices can actually use
- Collaborating with a tight-knit advisory team that genuinely has each other's backs

What you'll bring We're not about ticking boxes. We're looking for someone who brings:

- Tertiary qualifications in human resources, industrial or employment relations, or law
- Solid advisory experience in HR or workplace relations, ideally 7 years or more, with the confidence to guide members through the tricky and complex
- Demonstrated experience understanding and drafting employer responses in workers' compensation matters, asserting reasonable management action
- A track record of taking complex interpersonal conflict and performance matters through to resolution
- Strong working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, contemporary awards, other relevant employment and workplace legislation and employment principles generally
- A genuine passion for educating and upskilling others, because you get a buzz from helping people understand and grow




- The ability to build rapport quickly and earn trust across a diverse range of members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, so you can make complex concepts feel simple
- A proactive, self-driven attitude
- The judgement to know when a matter needs escalating, and the confidence to say so

Bonus points if you've:

- Worked in or with the health sector
- Presented at events, webinars or conferences
- Contributed to e-learning or training content development
