The business works with a significant portfolio of food manufacturers throughout New Zealand, supporting customers with specialised production and packaging equipment.

Due to continued demand, they are now looking for an experienced Service Engineer / Field Service Technician to join their established New Zealand service team.

The Job

Based in Hamilton or the surrounding areas, this is a highly autonomous role where you will take ownership of an established portfolio of food manufacturing customers across the North Island.

You will become the key technical contact for your customers, developing strong relationships and taking responsibility for their ongoing equipment service and support requirements.

Your role will include

- Planned preventative maintenance and servicing of industrial equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults and breakdowns
- Providing phone-based technical support and troubleshooting for customers
- Installation, commissioning and setup of new equipment
- Working with mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems
- Completing some workshop-based servicing and technical work in Hamilton
- Managing service requirements, documentation and communication across your customer portfolio
- Building robust, long-term relationships with customer maintenance and production teams

Customers are located throughout the North Island, so there will be regular travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight and multi-night stays. When not attending customer sites, you will work from the Hamilton facility.

The Candidate

This role would suit an experienced Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter or Field Service Technician who has worked with industrial equipment within a manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have experience in either onsite maintenance within a manufacturing plant or a field service position supporting manufacturing customers.

You will ideally bring

- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance experience
- Good fault-finding, maintenance and troubleshooting capabilities
- Exposure to electrical systems and electrical fault finding
- Experience working with pneumatics
- Experience servicing, repairing or maintaining industrial machinery
- Food manufacturing or food processing experience would be highly regarded
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills
- Confidence dealing directly with customers and taking ownership of their requirements
- Ability to work autonomously and organise your own workload
- Flexibility to travel to customer sites throughout the North Island

Previous experience with this specific type of equipment is not essential. The business is open to providing training to someone with the right mechanical aptitude, maintenance background and attitude.
