Engine by Starling Engine by Starling is the software-as-a-service business behind Starling Bank, offering a digital banking platform to banks and financial institutions worldwide.

About the role As a Solution Architect, you will leverage your understanding of Engine technology to explain the product, uncover client requirements and support the design of client solutions. You will be involved in both sales and delivery phases, as well as ongoing client success. The role requires travel within Australia and New Zealand, and occasionally abroad.

Responsibilities This role blends technical expertise with communication skills, enabling you to become an Engine expert and effectively communicate its capabilities to technical and non-technical audiences. Lead technical designs during the Engine implementation phase. Build relationships with client stakeholders and system integrators.

Collaborate with Product and engineering teams to shape Engine’s roadmap. Act as a technical champion for existing clients, ensuring their success. Provide guidance to client engineering teams using documentation, API specifications, and diagrams.

Collaborate closely with Client Success to troubleshoot technical issues and translate needs into new requirements.

Requirements Must Have Experience with end-to-end software engineering / solution architecture across the delivery lifecycle.

Experience in software service design and integration, such as RESTful APIs, Open API specification and sequence diagrams.

Experience with cloud infrastructure and large-scale cloud applications.

Experience in a client-facing role building relationships with stakeholders.



Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, delivering complex messaging to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to Have Experience in retail or business banking, core banking, card processing or payments.

Experience in delivery and implementation of core banking or large-scale digital transformation programmes, application migration and solution integration. Commercial acumen and experience building business cases.

Experience in a Saa S organisation in a Client Solutions or Client Engineering role. Knowledge of financial regulations around the world. About you Focus on delivery and getting things done for a client. Ability to work well with people from varied roles and technical backgrounds. Explicit communication of technical subjects. Comfortable working collaboratively in a flat structure. Comfortable travelling nationally to our London office and internationally.
