Seeking an experienced caregiver for my 12-year-old nonverbal autistic son in Salem, OH. This position requires someone with substantial hands-on experience caring for children/adults with significant autism and behavioral needs. My son is nonverbal and communicates primarily through behaviors, gestures, sounds, and body language and requires constant supervision.
Key responsibilities include managing behaviors such as aggression during frustration, elopement or bolting, throwing objects when overwhelmed, difficulty communicating, sensory overload, and transitioning challenges. You will need to identify behavioral triggers, detect early escalation signs, and apply appropriate redirection while maintaining calm.
We prefer candidates with experience as a Behavioral Technician, RBT, ABA Therapist, Special Education Aide,
Special Needs Caregiver, or Autism Classroom Staff. Experience with elopement prevention, de-escalation, behavioral intervention, sensory regulation, and nonverbal communication is essential.
The ideal candidate is patient, calm, physically capable of responding quickly, comfortable with aggressive behaviors, dependable, and must treat my son with respect and compassion, prioritizing his safety. The scheduled time is Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 7:45 PM. No pets are present, and the job does not involve driving, feeding, bathing, or bedtime routines.
