Special Schools IT Operations Lead

- Tenure: Full time, Continuing
- Location: This is a National role based at St Gabriels Flexible School
- Expected Travel: Between Flexi Schools and to the National Office on occasion
- Start: Negotiated as soon as possible with successful applicant
- Salary range: $114,000 - $116,000 per annum

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Special Schools IT Operations Lead ensures that technology across ERSES is reliable, secure, accessible and responsive to the needs of St Edmund's College and St Gabriel's School. The role provides local technology leadership, supports ERSES IT Services staff, and acts as the key link between the special schools and the EREAFSL National IT function. Working closely with the Principals, the role helps ensure that school priorities, specialist learning needs and operational requirements are understood and represented in national technology planning.

The Special Schools IT Operations Lead administers and maintains ERSES technology platforms, identity and access processes, endpoint management, assistive and accessibility technology, and local network infrastructure. National IT leads cybersecurity strategy and infrastructure architecture; this role maintains approved local controls, implements agreed actions, and reports compliance, risks and service status to National IT.

This role leads day-to-day technology support and improvement for ERSES Special Schools. It combines hands-on technical capability, local relationship management, assistive technology awareness and close collaboration with the National IT team. Success in the role depends on understanding the school communities, keeping core systems reliable, and helping staff and students use technology safely and effectively.

The Special Schools IT Operations Lead reports to the IT Solutions Manager and is part of the IT Solutions Team.

The following attributes and experience are essential to success in the role:

- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build practical and trusted working relationships with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving capability, with the ability to understand operational needs, investigate technical issues and determine appropriate actions within the authority and technical scope of the role, with consideration to the unique context and requirements of a special assistance school.
- Knowledge of, or experience supporting, assistive and accessibility technologies used in education or disability-support environments, with an understanding of the role technology can play in student communication, learning, accessibility and participation.
- Demonstrated experience working within structured IT service management practices, including service delivery, escalation, problem resolution, change management and continuous service improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within established organisational governance, technical standards and national technology frameworks, while representing and responding to the operational needs of ERSES schools.




- Experience working in the K-12 education sector is highly desirable.
- Experience in special education, disability support or another environment involving complex accessibility requirements would be particularly well regarded.
- Relevant qualifications, or equivalent professional experience, in information technology or a related discipline, are required.
- Flexibility to undertake other duties consistent with the scope, accountability and classification of the position as required.

Qualifications

- A Working with Children Clearance Notice
- Current driver's licence (essential)
- Appropriate qualifications and relevant professional experience:
- A professional qualification, or degree, in information technology or information systems from a recognised tertiary institution, or other relevant qualification, would be well regarded.
- Relevant Microsoft, Jamf, cybersecurity or IT service management certifications would be well regarded.
