Mair and Doveton Pty Ltd is looking for a qualified and experienced Full-Time Cook to join our team.

- Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
- Location: Ballarat, Victoria, 3350

Key Responsibilities

- Discuss food preparation requirements with management and kitchen staff.
- Plan menus and estimate food and beverage costs in consultation with management.
- Order and inspect food supplies and ingredients to ensure quality and freshness.
- Prepare and cook food according to menu specifications and standard recipes.
- Monitor and control cooking equipment, including ovens, grills, and stoves, to maintain correct temperatures.
- Season and finish dishes appropriately during preparation and cooking.
- Portion and plate meals with appropriate sauces, gravies, and garnishes for service.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Store food safely in temperature-controlled areas in line with food safety standards.




- Discuss dietary requirements with customers or dietitians where relevant, and prepare meals to meet special dietary needs.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and procedures, and support and train junior kitchen staff or apprentices.

Skills and Qualifications

- AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant work experience or on-the-job training in a commercial kitchen.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a busy commercial kitchen setting.
