About the role
Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, the Construction Project Manager will plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the construction of engineering and building projects, and all resources involved, from pre-construction through to practical completion. This is a full-time, ongoing position based at George Street in Sydney CBD.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritise resources across one or more construction projects to meet agreed timeframes
- Apply the hierarchy of controls and other risk management tools across project stages
- Arrange the procurement and timely delivery of materials, plant and equipment
- Consult with and build strong relationships with architects, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and trades workers throughout the course of each project
- Monitor project progress against timelines, costs, quality standards and budgets, and report on these to management
- Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the Building Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards, and work health and safety legislation
- Manage, lead and supervise subcontractors and in office teams
- Provide regular project updates, progress reports, and performance metrices to senior management and other stakeholders
About you
- A bachelor degree or higher qualification in construction management, civil engineering, building or a related field, or at least five years of relevant experience managing construction projects
- An understanding of the principles of most trades and services
- High level understanding and proven dedication to OHS&E; principles
- Work experience within the fit out and refurbishment building industry
- Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of building or engineering construction projects
- Strong organisational, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
- Sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards, and work health and safety obligations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
