The Location
Sitting 200 km west of the state capital, Sydney, this prominent inland city stands as the first major center beyond the Blue Mountains, boasting a rich historical legacy as Australia's oldest inland settlement. Immersing yourself in this enchanting destination for a week would barely scratch the surface of its abundant historical treasures, complemented by the lush agricultural landscapes that encompass the city. Over time, it has evolved into a significant administrative hub and, more recently, a vital regional educational center,
home to several distinguished schools and the main campus of Charles Sturt University. Surrounded by captivating historic villages, the city is further enhanced by a vibrant culinary scene, boasting an array of excellent restaurants.
The Hospital
A major rural referral hospital, the facility has 200 beds for acute and extended care. The services encompass a wide range, including surgical, medical, pediatric, obstetrics and gynecology, intensive care, psychiatry, and extended care, along with regional services. During the fruit harvest season, the population surges, welcoming an estimated 10,000 migrant workers from various parts of Australia and abroad. This period sees a rise in cases related to snake bites, cuts, eye injuries from branches, incidents from falling off fruit-picking ladders, as well as allergic reactions, which constitute some of the most commonly treated conditions during this time.
