Only a few hours’ drive north of Brisbane this facility is situated on QLD’s beautiful coast line on the door step of some of the best beaches in the world and near to an internationally recognised natural wonder. The location is a major tourist attraction in itself so the local infrastructure is extremely well developed including good restaurants, shopping, private schools and a wide range of activities.
The Facility:
There are two facilities covering the main areas of population at which you will be based. The first is a modern, 137-bed facility providing acute services, including operating theatres, general surgery, day procedure unit, 24-hour emergency department, intensive and coronary care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, midwifery, orthopaedic surgery, pathology, medical imaging, renal dialysis, cardiac rehabilitation, pharmacy, internal medicine, oncology services, endocrinology, specialist outpatients, population health and onsite breast screening. The second is an 88-bed facility providing sub-acute inpatient services to the region. It provides internal medicine; perioperative; accident and emergency, general surgery, a mental health unit, gynaecology, orthopaedic surgery, urology; pathology, medical imaging and pharmacy.
From a clinical perspective the hospital services a wide-ranging demographic including a local population of around 80,000 on top of which there are up to 1,000,000 tourists per year.
The Role:
This position is responsible for providing high quality specialist mental health interventions to the target population and for contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the service as a whole. The position can be a vocational training position as it is accredited with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). It can also be for a Medical Officer who wishes to increase his/her knowledge and experience in Mental Health without joining the RANZCP Training Program.
