About the role

Porepunkah Pub is seeking an experienced hospitality leader to join our team as Second-in-Charge (2IC). This is a senior, hands-on operational role working closely with the Venue Manager to run the venue day-to-day and to build a positive, professional, high-performing team. We are looking for someone who is confident leading a team, comfortable making decisions during busy service, and willing to be hands-on across all areas of the venue when required.

Key responsibilities

- Support the Venue Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and take charge of venue operations when the Venue Manager is unavailable or off-site.

- Provide solid leadership and direction to front-of-house, bar and other operational team members.

- Lead shifts and ensuring services are organised, efficient and delivered to a consistently high standard.

- Support staff during busy service periods and step into operational roles when required.

- Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation, cleanliness and professionalism throughout the venue.

- Support the Venue Manager with staff supervision, training, development and performance expectations.

- Help create a positive workplace where team members feel supported while also being held accountable to expected standards.

- Ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities during each shift.





- Support opening and closing procedures and ensure all required operational tasks are completed correctly.

- Assist with cash handling, till reconciliation and end-of-day procedures where required.

About you

- Previous hospitality experience, ideally in a busy, high-volume venue (essential)

- Robust leadership, people-management and communication skills (essential)

- Strong understanding of customer service and venue operations (essential)

- Ability to confidently lead a team during busy periods (essential)

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability (essential)

- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure (essential)

- Reliable, organised and able to work independently (essential)

- Willingness to work across different areas of the venue when required (essential)

- Current RSA or willingness to obtain all required certifications before commencing relevant duties (essential)

- Prior experience in bar operations, front-of-house supervision, restaurant management, kitchen leadership or broader venue management (desirable)

- This is a casual position with part-time or full-time growth opportunity.
