What's the role?

The Director, AI, Innovation & Transformation exists to ensure that Technology, Digital and Data (TDD) is the engine of strategic competitive advantage for News Corp Australia’s digital future. The role leads TDD’s AI strategy and portfolio, leads the AI & Innovation COE, partners with business units to co-create and enable AI-driven solutions, and leads the major transformation programmes that will make the new TDD operating model a reality.

It is a role for a visionary and driven leader who is as capable of setting an enterprise AI strategy in partnership with a broad set of stakeholders across TDD and the business. This role will take a holistic and integrated approach across people, process and technology to unlock future value for the organisation.

Responsibilities

- Define and champion TDD's AI strategy, portfolio and roadmap, ensuring close alignment with broader business objectives. Collaborate with senior leaders across the business to create an integrated AI strategy framework.

- Establish and lead the AI & Innovation COE, fostering a culture of experimentation. Drive and facilitate AI market research and AI tool / model evaluation. Set the AI governance framework, define AI related policies and set required guardrails / controls

- Partner closely with business units to identify and prioritise AI use cases, co-create AI solutions, and enable the delivery and productionisation of pilots and POCs.

- Support the embedding and uplifting of AI maturity and capability across all teams in TDD and broader business, including adoption of AI tools.

- Ensure leaders carry relevant and explicit AI accountability and set measurable AI-related objectives and targets.

- Lead major TDD transformation programmes, including the implementation of the TDD Operating Model (TDD Connect) and AI enablement of the SDLC (TDD Amplify)

- Drive and promote investments in AI capabilities, track benefits realisation and ROI of investments in AI and TDD transformation initiatives.

Who are you?

- A visionary thinker with a minimum of 15 years of relevant leadership experience, ideally within a large-scale media, digital publisher, or complex enterprise.

- An expert with deep, current fluency in enterprise AI, including LLMs, agentic systems, AI ops, and safety frameworks.





- A strategic communicator capable of business partnering at the C-Suite level to influence publisher MDs, CFOs, and executives on AI strategy.

- A transformation specialist with a proven track record of guiding matrixed teams through complex organisational changes and operating model transitions.

- A financially astute leader who can create budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and demonstrate a strong return on investment for technology initiatives.

- Degree-qualified with a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
