We are seeking a motivated Scheduling Officer to join the MTM team on a maximum-term contract, based at Transport House on Collins Street in Melbourne's CBD.

About the Role

Play a key role in keeping Melbourne moving by developing and issuing daily train timetables that support safe, reliable and efficient rail services, including special events, infrastructure works and network access activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate train service scheduling, alternative transport arrangements, track access and track machine movements to support operational, project and infrastructure requirements.
- Develop and deliver daily, special event and contingency timetables to support planned works and unexpected disruptions across the network.
- Produce daily timetable alterations and associated documentation, ensuring all changes are safe, compliant and aligned with MTM's operational obligations.




- Liaise with other rail operators to coordinate and approve altered or additional train movements through the MTM network.
- Analyse technical information and reporting data to support effective timetable planning and network access requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling processes, including the simplification and automation of tools and methods.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support operational outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Desirable

- Degree qualification in Engineering, Science, Business Analytics, Transport Planning, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify process improvements.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to identify, assess and manage risk while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.

Mandatory

- Demonstrated experience of timetable preparation and publication processes within the Timetable Management System (TMS) setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fleet and infrastructure maintenance and servicing requirements.
- Experience and knowledge of Safe Working systems applicable to MTM Network
- Experience and knowledge of the configuration of the Metropolitan trains system, stations, train operations, train fleet and terminal working.
- Proficiency in computer-based systems and a continuous improvement mindset,



including process simplification and optimisation.
