Fresh Produce Group of Australia

Homebush West

If you’re an experienced WHS practitioner who wants to work close to operations, influence how safety is done and see the impact of your work, this role offers the scope to do exactly that.

This is a true Business Partner role, balancing hands-on operational safety with risk, assurance, reporting and continuous improvement across farming, packing, warehousing, logistics and corporate environments.
Working closely with our Safety Director and operational leaders, you’ll have the opportunity to shape practical improvements and strengthen safety across a diverse national business.

The role can be based in Sydney, Mildura or Brisbane and involves regular travel to our Australian operations.

About Fresh Produce Group
Fresh Produce Group is one of Australia’s largest fresh produce businesses, with farming, distribution and commercial operations nationwide. Through businesses including Smart Berries, Treviso, Tumut Grove and Fruitico Farms, more than 600 people grow and distribute over 40 produce varieties for Australian and international customers. Chances are, you’ve eaten something grown on one of our farms.

About the role
Reporting to the Safety Director, you’ll partner with leaders and frontline teams to build capability, manage risk and deliver practical improvements across the Group. One day you may be on site working through a risk assessment or incident; the next, analysing trends, preparing executive reporting or improving a Group-wide process.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Partner with managers and supervisors to provide practical WHS advice, support decisions and build accountability.
- Facilitate risk assessments, critical control reviews and management-of-change activities.
- Conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities, helping leaders close identified gaps.
- Lead or support investigations into serious incidents and high-potential near misses.

- Advise on operational risks including plant and equipment, contractors, manual tasks, chemicals, psychosocial hazards and emergency preparedness.
- Use WHS data and operational insights to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement priorities.
- Help evolve FPG’s WHS strategy, critical risk program, management system, reporting and capability initiatives.

About you
You’re an experienced WHS practitioner who combines sound technical judgement with a practical, commercially aware approach.
You build trust with frontline teams, help managers navigate risk and challenge constructively when needed. You can also step back, spot patterns and turn what you see into clear advice, useful reporting and workable improvements.
To be successful, you will have:

- At least three years’ experience in a WHS advisory or business partnering role in an operational or higher-risk environment.
- Practical capability in risk assessment, incident investigation, auditing, assurance and critical risk management.
- The confidence and ability to coach, influence and constructively challenge leaders while building strong relationships.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and the judgement to turn requirements into workable solutions.
- Solid analytical and written communication skills, including clear management reporting.
- A Diploma or higher qualification in WHS, OHS or a related discipline.
- A current driver’s licence and flexibility to travel regularly across Australia.

Experience in agriculture, FMCG, food production, logistics, warehousing or supply chain operations will be highly regarded.

What you’ll enjoy

- A broad role with variety across operations, risk, assurance, analysis and reporting.
- Visible impact and genuine scope to shape how safety is managed across a growing national business.
- Exposure to diverse operations, leaders and risk profiles.
- The opportunity to work closely with and learn from an experienced Safety Director.
- A down-to-earth, collaborative team that values practical thinking and sound judgement.
