Paperbark Technologies
Perth
Ready to get off the ropes and take the next step in your consulting career?
Paperbark Technologies is growing, and we're looking for two great people to join our arboricultural consulting team in Perth.
We're interested in arborists at different stages of their careers.
You might be a Cert III in Arboriculture with strong practical experience who's ready to get off the tools and develop a career in consulting.
Or you might already be an experienced AQF Level 5 Consulting Arborist looking for your next opportunity and a growing consultancy where you can make a genuine contribution.
Two opportunities. Two pathways. One growing team.
Developing Consulting Arborist – Cert III
You've learned how to work with trees. Now we'll help you learn how to consult on them.
If you're currently climbing, working in a tree crew, undertaking tree inspections or working in another practical arboricultural role, this is an opportunity to take your experience in a new direction.
We're not expecting you to arrive knowing everything about consulting.
For the right person, we'll provide the support and experience to develop your skills across:
- Tree inspections and assessments
- GIS tree mapping and inventories
- Tree identification
- Tree risk and condition assessment
- Tree retention and protection
- Development and construction projects
- Arboricultural report writing
- Arboricultural Impact Assessments
- Tree Protection Plans
- Local government tree management
We're looking for someone with good practical arboricultural knowledge, initiative, attention to detail, confidence with technology and a genuine willingness to learn.
Ideally, you'll hold a Certificate III in Arboriculture and be interested in continuing to develop your qualifications and consulting career.
Previous GIS, QTRA or report-writing experience is an advantage, but not essential.
Consulting Arborist – AQF Level 5 or Above
Already working in consulting, local government or senior arboriculture?
We're looking for an experienced AQF Level 5 Arborist who wants to take ownership of projects,
work directly with clients and become an important part of a growing consulting team.
Our work spans local government, development, construction and private projects throughout Western Australia.
Depending on your experience, you'll be involved in:
- Preliminary Tree Surveys and tree inventories
- Arboricultural Impact Assessments
- Tree Protection Plans
- Tree risk and condition assessments
- Development and planning projects
- Construction monitoring and arboricultural supervision
- Local government consulting
- GIS-based tree assessment and mapping
- Client and project team liaison
Ideally, you'll have:
- AQF Level 5 Diploma in Arboriculture
- Strong tree identification and assessment skills
- Demonstrated arboricultural report-writing experience
- Experience with GIS and digital tree inventory systems
- Current QTRA, VALID or TRAQ tree risk assessment qualification/accreditation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and project teams
- Current Australian driver's license
We're particularly interested in someone with strong practical judgment who can provide clear, pragmatic arboricultural advice, not simply produce reports.
Why Paperbark?
Paperbark Technologies is a Perth-based arboricultural consultancy working with local government, developers, architects, landscape architects, builders and residential clients throughout Western Australia.
Our work is increasingly focused on helping clients make informed decisions about how existing trees can be retained, protected and successfully incorporated into development.
We're a growing team, which means the right people have an opportunity to contribute, take responsibility and grow with the business.
Depending on your experience and position, we offer:
- Competitive remuneration based on experience and qualifications
- Company vehicle for work-related travel
- Laptop, phone, uniforms, PPE and equipment as applicable
- Career development and further training
- Mentoring and support from experienced consulting arborists
- Modern GIS and digital field technology
- A broad variety of projects across Perth and regional WA
- Opportunity to work directly with clients and project teams
- Supportive, professional team environment
Who should apply?
We'd particularly like to hear from you if you're:
- A Cert III Arborist ready to get off the tools
- A climber or crew leader wondering what the next stage of your career looks like
- An arborist currently working towards your Diploma
- An AQF Level 5 Arborist already working in consulting
- A local government arborist interested in private consulting
- An experienced arborist looking for greater project variety
- An interstate arborist considering a move to Western Australia
Thinking about moving to Perth?
Interstate applicants are encouraged to apply.
The arboricultural industry is a small one, and we know the right person may not currently be in Perth.
If you're an experienced arborist elsewhere in Australia and have considered making the move west, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate.
Not actively looking? That's okay too.
We know good arborists are in demand, and many of the people we'd like to meet are probably already employed.
If you've been thinking about getting off the tools, moving into consulting or simply looking for a new challenge, we'd still like to hear from you.
A conversation doesn't commit you to anything.
Ready to get off the ropes and help shape Perth's tree retention?
Send your CV and a brief introduction telling us about your experience and where you'd like to take your arboriculture career.
