The Role:
This traineeship provides hands-on experience supporting the delivery of school sport and physical education programs within a secondary school environment. The successful applicant will assist with sporting events, recreation activities, equipment and facility management, and student participation programs while developing practical skills in sport, recreation and administration. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about sport and working with young people to gain valuable industry experience while contributing to a vibrant school community.
This position will commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the organisation and coordination of school sporting events, carnivals and recreation programs.
- Support the maintenance and management of sporting equipment, uniforms and facilities.
- Assist Physical Education staff with practical classes, including set-up and pack-down of equipment and activities.
- Support students' participation and development in sport, fitness and physical activity programs.
- Assist with school sports teams, competitions and representative sporting events.
- Maintain sports records, noticeboards, photographs and other administrative requirements.
- Attend camps, excursions and sporting events as required.
- Represent the College professionally and communicate positively with students, staff and the wider school community.
Essential:
- A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a strong interest in sport, teaching, coaching and working with young people. The ideal candidate will have sound communication and computer skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and the initiative to work independently when required. You will be organised, proactive and able to build positive relationships with students, staff and the wider school community.
A commitment to Christian values, a willingness to support sporting events, camps and school activities, and an interest in helping students lead active and healthy lifestyles will be highly regarded. Qualifications or interests in fitness, coaching, Duke of Edinburgh or sports photography would be advantageous.
