About Somerville Community Services
Somerville is a for-purpose, community-based organisation that has supported Territorians for over 60 years. We specialise in high-quality disability services that empower people to live the life they choose. As a registered NDIS provider, we deliver individualised support across the Northern Territory, with a focus on respectful, person-centred relationships that promote choice, dignity, and independence.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Manager, Property and Assets to lead the effective management of Somerville’s property, vehicle and maintenance assets.
Reporting to the Director, Housing and Property Services, you’ll lead Somerville’s Maintenance team and oversee the day-to-day management of our properties, vehicles, equipment and other assets.
This is a hands-on management role that combines day-to-day operational oversight with longer-term asset planning. You’ll help ensure our properties, facilities and assets remain safe, functional, compliant and fit for purpose, supporting the delivery of high-quality disability services.
The role is based in Darwin and involves regular travel to Somerville locations in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and Alice Springs.
What you’ll do
- Lead and support the Maintenance team, promoting high standards of performance, safety and service
- Oversee planned, reactive and urgent maintenance, ensuring work is prioritised and completed to the required standard
- Lead asset lifecycle planning, refurbishment projects and capital works
- Manage contractors and suppliers, including quotations, negotiations, performance and compliance
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules and budgets, monitor expenditure and support cost-effective decision-making
- Maintain effective systems for asset tracking, maintenance planning and compliance reporting
- Manage leased property requirements and liaise with external property management providers
- Work closely with Disability Services and other teams to ensure property and asset management supports operational priorities and high-quality service delivery
What you’ll bring
You’ll be an experienced property, facilities or asset management professional with the confidence to lead a maintenance function, manage contractors and budgets, and make practical decisions across a varied portfolio.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience leading operational teams within property, facilities, asset, infrastructure or maintenance management
- Strong experience in asset lifecycle management, facilities maintenance and infrastructure planning
- Experience managing maintenance, refurbishment or capital works projects, including contractors and external service providers
- Strong financial capability, including developing and managing budgets and monitoring expenditure
- Sound knowledge of relevant building, safety, WHS and regulatory requirements
- Strong contractor and supplier management skills, including negotiation, performance and service quality
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence using asset management or maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft 365
- Flexibility to travel regularly to Somerville locations and work outside standard business hours when required
A tertiary qualification in facilities management, asset management, project management, business or a related discipline will be highly regarded, along with experience in disability, community services or the not-for-profit sector.
