Position Overview

The Domestic and Family Violence Child Witness Counsellor plays a vital role in providing individual and group counselling for children impacted by domestic and family violence. This position is based in Wondai and Kingaroy, offering a safe and supportive environment for therapeutic interventions. The role also includes responsibilities as a Domestic and Family Violence Support Worker to respond to service demand when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individual and group counselling using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and child-centred practises.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies regarding domestic and family violence.




- Facilitate therapeutic group programs and activities for children, particularly during school holidays.
- Collaborate with other professionals and organisations to enhance service delivery and client support.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case management records in compliance with organisational and legislative requirements.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in counselling or social work, with specific experience related to domestic and family violence. You will be skilled in engaging with children and families from diverse backgrounds, particularly those experiencing high-risk situations.

- Minimum 3-year degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and families affected by domestic violence and complex client issues.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to cultural safety.
- Ability to manage time effectively and maintain accountability for service delivery.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, starting at $46.70 per hour, with opportunities for salary packaging.
