Mercedes College is seeking an enthusiastic and highly capable Business and Economics Teacher to join our Secondary School teaching team in 2027. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about developing students' entrepreneurial thinking, economic literacy and understanding of contemporary business challenges.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach predominantly within the Senior School (Years 10-12), delivering engaging learning experiences in Business Innovation and Economics and preparing students for success in SACE and beyond.

About the Opportunities

Business and Economics Teacher

The successful applicant will teach Business and Economics across Years 10-12, with a particular focus on SACE Business Innovation and Economics. We are seeking a teacher who can inspire students to think critically about contemporary economic issues, entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership while achieving strong academic outcomes.

Leadership Opportunities

Mercedes College is also seeking applications for two POR2 Learning Area Leader positions.

- POR2 Learning Area Leader, Humanities
Fixed-Term (2 years)

- POR2 Learning Area Leader, Health, Physical Education and Outdoor Education
Fixed-Term (2 years)

These leadership roles provide an opportunity to support educational excellence through instructional leadership, curriculum development, staff mentoring and the ongoing enhancement of student learning outcomes.

Please note: The POR leadership roles are teaching-linked appointments. Applicants must hold, or be appointed to, a teaching position at Mercedes College to be eligible for these roles.

About You

You are an engaging, collaborative and student-centred educator who is committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to supporting young people to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience teaching within the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), preferably including Stage 1 and Stage 2 Business Innovation and/or Economics.
- A strong understanding of contemporary curriculum design, assessment and reporting practices.
- The ability to create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that challenge students to think critically, act ethically and achieve their personal best.
- A commitment to evidence-informed practice and continuous improvement.




- Solid organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.
- The capacity to contribute positively to collaborative teams and professional learning communities.
- A passion for fostering student wellbeing, engagement and achievement.
- Confidence in using contemporary technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

- Experience supporting senior secondary students to achieve strong academic outcomes and prepare for post-school pathways.

- A commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education and the Mercy tradition of Mercedes College.

For Leadership Applicants

In addition to the above, applicants for the POR2 positions will demonstrate:

- The capacity to lead and inspire teams through a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting curriculum development, staff growth and evidence-informed teaching practice.
- The ability to use data and feedback to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.
- A strategic mindset and commitment to educational innovation and excellence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build capability and foster high-performing teams.

Qualifications and Training

Applicants must hold:

- A recognised teaching qualification and registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- RRHAN-EC Fundamentals and Masterclass training.
- First Aid Certificate HLTAID012.
