Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Operating Theatre Assistant to join us in a permanent full-time role.
Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield which opened early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff perks!
What you’ll be doing
The Theatre Assistant / Orderly will provide effective and efficient orderly support service to our client's based on a customer focus philosophy.
- Assist with patient positioning, utilising a variety of positioning aids and specialised equipment
- Remove soiled linen, rubbish, and sharps containers
- Perform duties within the departmental scope of duties
- Fulfill additional duties as requested and directed by clinical team
- Promote a safe and harmonious workplace
- Comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies & Procedures
- Provide support services including patient transport, waste and linen management
- Actively engage in self-development and performance management
About you
The successful candidate will have a current Open Driver’s Licence (with no restrictions).
- Experience as an Operating Theatre Assistant mandatory
- Certificate III in Health Support Services, highly desirable
- Experience in obstetric theatres, highly desirable
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety and anti-discrimination practices
- Strong customer service and communication skills
