Moree

Your Employer
Our client is a family-owned farming business operating more than 2,000 hectares of irrigated country near Moree, NSW. Cotton is the major crop, supported by wheat, sorghum, canola and chickpeas within an intensive mixed-cropping program.

Most farming operations are completed in-house, giving you broad exposure across irrigation, machinery and cropping. You’ll work directly alongside the family in a practical, supportive environment where good work is recognised with trust, responsibility and genuine opportunities to progress into farm management.

The Role
As Assistant Farm Manager, you will be the operational 2IC, working closely with the family to coordinate day-to-day activities across irrigation, cropping, machinery and staff. This is a hands-on role with genuine responsibility and the opportunity to develop into broader farm management as your knowledge of the property grows.
Your duties will include (but not be limited to):

- Coordinate daily farm activities and supervise approximately five staff.
- Manage siphon and bankless irrigation activities, pumps, gates and water movement.
- Participate in planting, spraying, crop monitoring and harvesting operations.
- Set up, operate and monitor agricultural machinery and implements.
- Troubleshoot machinery issues, complete minor repairs and coordinate major repairs.
- Maintain WHS requirements, pre-starts, inductions and machinery training records.

About You
You will bring proven irrigated cotton experience and practical siphon irrigation knowledge, combined with the ability to lead people and stay actively involved in the work yourself. You'll be mechanically capable, attentive to detail and comfortable taking ownership of daily operations while still working closely with the farming family.

Importantly, you don't necessarily need to have held an Assistant Farm Manager title previously.

The family is open to someone who has already demonstrated leadership and is ready to take the next step into a broader management role.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to address the following criteria:

- Proven irrigated cotton experience, including practical siphon irrigation knowledge.
- Experience supervising and directing farm staff and monitoring work quality.
- Cotton picking/harvesting and agricultural machinery experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting capability.
- Ability to independently manage irrigation and respond to changing conditions.
- Solid attention to detail with a commitment to completing work correctly.
- Good communication skills and willingness to take increasing responsibility.

Other certification/licences desired for the role include a valid driver's licence and Chem Cert. HR licence, grader, excavator and truck experience will also be highly regarded.

The Benefits:
Enjoy the stability of a family-owned farming business where you’ll work closely with the owners, have management support when required and be trusted with increasing responsibility as you demonstrate your capability. Located just 20km from Moree, the role also offers excellent on-farm accommodation and a strong remuneration package.

- $100,000–$150,000 + super, depending on experience.
- Potential flexibility above the range for an exceptional candidate.
- Three-bedroom on-farm home with power and Wi-Fi included.
- Work vehicle provided.
