Position Overview

Position Title: Music Teacher and Coordinator (Junior School)
Workload: Full Time
Pay Range: $110,000 – $134,000 per year
Employment Basis: Permanent teaching position with a three-year fixed-term Position of Added Responsibility (PAR) appointment as Music Coordinator (Junior School)
Start Date: Commencing 2027

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Music Coordinator (Junior School) to lead and coordinate a dynamic Prep to Year 6 music program while delivering engaging classroom music education.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate music educator who enjoys inspiring young learners, leading performance opportunities and building a vibrant music culture. Working closely with the Head of Arts (P–12), P–12 Music Coordinator and Junior School Leadership Team, you will lead classroom and co-curricular music programs, including our popular Mini Musos program, while supporting both contemporary and classical music pathways within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Key Responsibilities:





- Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom music programs for Prep to Year 6 students.

- Coordinate the Junior School Music Program, ensuring alignment with College priorities and the Arts vision.

- Lead and support key co-curricular programs including Beginner Band, Junior School Choir and Junior School Chapel Band.

- Coordinate and deliver the College's Mini Musos early childhood music program.

- Create and oversee opportunities for students to participate in ensembles, concerts, celebrations, performances, assemblies and College events.

- Foster a positive, inclusive and creative learning setting that promotes student wellbeing, confidence and growth.

- Collaborate with teaching staff, visiting music tutors, ensemble directors and families to support student success.

- Support the ongoing development of music curriculum, resources, performances and strategic initiatives within the College.

- Contribute positively to the Christian ethos, culture and broader life of the College.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Music Education and eligibility for teacher registration in Queensland.

- Excellence in music teaching and experience working with primary-aged students.

- Ability as a multi-instrumentalist to teach a range of band instruments at beginner level.

- Experience leading music programs, ensembles, choirs, bands and student performances.

- Strong curriculum, assessment and organisational skills,



with experience in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) viewed favourably.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student wellbeing and engagement.

- Experience in early childhood music programs, including programs such as Mini Musos, will be highly regarded.

- A collaborative approach and demonstrated support for the Christian ethos, mission and values of St Andrews Lutheran College.
