Red Gum BBQ is looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen at our award-winning Red Hill restaurant.

We’re not your typical kitchen. We cook authentic Southern-style BBQ over wood and fire, serving up the brisket, ribs, pulled pork and Southern favourites Red Gum BBQ has become known for.

We’re looking for someone who loves great food, thrives in a busy setting and, most importantly, knows how to lead a team and run a seriously good kitchen.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take ownership of our back of house operation, including:
Leading, mentoring and developing the kitchen team
Running smooth, organised, high-volume services
Managing rostering, labour, food costs, stock and wastage
Maintaining exceptional food quality and consistency
Driving food safety, HACCP and kitchen compliance
Improving systems and processes
Working closely with our FOH and leadership teams

Who We’re Looking For
5+ years’ experience leading busy, high-volume kitchens
Robust people leadership and team development skills




Excellent organisation and communication
Confidence managing kitchen costs and performance
A calm head under pressure
A proactive, hands-on approach and plenty of initiative
Relevant cookery qualifications
BBQ or smoking experience is a bonus, but not essential. We can teach you BBQ — we’re looking for someone who already knows how to lead.
