About the Chance
As a Parks & Gardens Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining and improving the Shire's parks, gardens, reserves, recreational areas, roadsides and public spaces. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll contribute to creating attractive, safe and welcoming environments for residents and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain parks, gardens and reserves through mowing, turf management, planting, pruning and weed control.
Operate and maintain plant, equipment and tools safely and effectively.
Undertake a variety of manual outdoor tasks and team-based projects.
Support environmental sustainability and the preservation of the Shire's natural assets.
Engage positively with residents and visitors, providing professional and courteous customer service.
Follow safe work practices and actively contribute to a strong workplace health and safety culture.
Participate in training and rotational duties to build skills across the Parks and Reserves team.
About You

Essential Requirements
Has a positive attitude and a robust work ethic.
Enjoys outdoor, hands‐on work and is physically capable of undertaking manual tasks.
Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrates initiative,



reliability and flexibility.
Has strong interpersonal skills and enjoys engaging with the community.
Shares our commitment to safety, sustainability and teamwork.
Relevant horticultural qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
Current White Card.
National Police Clearance.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices
Candidates must be willing to complete a pre‐employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening) and provide a current National Police Clearance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
HR or MR Driver's Licence.
First Aid Certificate.
Traffic Management accreditation.
Chainsaw operation certification.
Chemical Handling accreditation.
Experience operating horticultural and grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, brush cutters, blowers, hedge trimmers and tractors
