Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) is the leading provider of health and residential aged care services in the Wellington Shire, serving a population of over 42,000 and offering specialist services to the East Gippsland region.

Operating across Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield, CGHS provides a range of acute, aged care, and community health services, including a 24/7 Emergency Department, oncology, dialysis, and surgical services.

Our Medical Services Division includes specialties such as ICU/CCU, cardiology, oncology, and respiratory medicine. The division is supported by experienced consultants, as well as junior medical staff, including physician trainees on rotation.

About the Role
n
The Consultant Physician will play a key role in providing senior medical leadership and support in General Medicine, focusing on high-quality, integrated care across both acute and community settings.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide clinical and professional leadership within the medical division, working collaboratively with other clinicians and the nurse unit managers.
n
Arrange ongoing medical management in accordance with the best interests of the patient seeking advice from appropriate tertiary referral centres where indicated.
n
Support the development of and participate in the on call Physician roster,
including providing after hours support to the Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and inpatient units.
n
Provide ambulatory consulting services in general medicine through CGH clinics or private practice as agreed. These may include, but not limited to:n
n
Rapid access medical clinic
n
General Medical clinics
n
Diabetes and Endocrinology clinics
n
Hospital In the Home Service
n
Conduct clinics.
n
n
Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and medical students.
n
Contribute to clinical governance activities, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
n
Work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient-centred care.
n

About You
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
n
Registered or registrable medical qualifications with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
n
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent qualifications suitable for an Area of Need appointment.
n
