We're looking for passionate and community-minded First Nations people to join our team in Dubbo, NSW (Wiradjuri Country). This is a full-time role (75 hours per fortnight). You'll be helping young people feel solid, supported and connected to services in their community.
About The Role
As an
Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Worker
with our
headspace Outreach Program
, you'll play a key role in supporting your mob and helping young people feel strong and connected. Your work will include:
Encouraging young people to reach out for support and sharing ways to look after mental health in ways that make sense for your community.
Providing warm, culturally safe guidance to help young people (aged *****) find the right services and support when they need it.
Bringing people together through community activities that support physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.
This role involves regular travel to rural and remote communities to deliver services and support to young people.
You'll be supported every step of the way by an organisation that puts its commitment to First Nations peoples at the heart of everything we do.
What You'll Bring
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (this is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****).
A qualification or relevant industry experience in Mental Health, Primary Health, Community Services
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a sense of integrity and initiative.
Great communication and people skills and the ability to manage your time well.
Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
Confidence using Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
A valid Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for work
