Smart Resources Qld Pty Ltd, a leading company in the Cairns, QLD area, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team.
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial records and transactions of our company. Your main duties will include preparing and analysing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and laws.
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 12 months of experience in a similar position and possess solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices. You should also have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections
Monitor and reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes




Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and identify potential issues
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management for decision-making
Stay updated on accounting principles and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting
Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate and complete
Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or above in accounting or a related field
12 months of experience in a similar position
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of tax laws and regulations
CPA or other accounting certification is a plus
