Job Description
Taronga Zoo Sydney is looking for an experienced and motivated Water Systems Operator to join our Asset Management team!

Located at Sydney's Iconic - Taronga Zoo – Cammeraigal Country
n
Full-time, ongoing position
n
TCSA Wages Award, Water Systems Operator, Base salary $ 75,914 + 12% superannuation + allowances where applicable
n
n
The role of Full Time Water Systems Technician/ Operator at Taronga Zoo is a truly unique working environment, where your day to day is different every day! You'll be working across the zoo + on exhibits with tigers, seals, pygmy hippos, lions, and so much more!
n
About the Role...
n
The Water Systems Operator will provide a broad range of skills across the water systems for cyclic maintenance, restoration, repairs and ensure water quality is maintained at the acceptable standards.
n
n
Perform all types of duties associated with all water systems maintenance, including but not limited to; Water quality testing and recording, commissioning restoration repairs, general housekeeping and construction work as directed on the zoo site.
n
To develop skills in the operation of the water and/or sewerage treatment and reticulation systems in a protected manner.
n
Monitor the operation of all water systems to ensure appropriate levels of disinfection and water quality is provided consistent with relevant standards and requirements.
n
Adhere to works requisition system and follow through with projects in an efficient and effective manner.
n
Ensure work is performed in a timely, cost effective manner to prescribed quality standards to meet stakeholder and Taronga's needs.
n
Perform all trade and non-trade related work activities as scheduled / allocated and instructed by the Supervisor, Water Systems.
n
Maintain Taronga tools, vehicles and machinery in a sound and safe working condition.
n
Comply and suggest sustainability practices in the workplace to help achieve Taronga's sustainability targets and reduce the environmental impact.

About You...
n
We are looking for candidates that have:
n
n
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in the operation of Water Systems related to Water Treatment Plants, Reticulation Systems and Water Treatment Plant processes
n
Completed or willingness to complete Certificate III in Water Operations
n
Hold a current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognised, including manual.
n
Current vaccinations records for Q Fever, Hepatitis A maintained at your own expense.
n
Willingness to undergo pre-placement medical examination:
n
Pre employment Musculoskeletal and Fitness Assessment *Taronga will pay for this
