Are you an experienced Learning Support Teacher looking for an opportunity where you can make a meaningful difference to students with diverse and complex learning needs?
Our client is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Teacher to join their welcoming Northam campus on a full time, permanent basis from Term 1, ****.
Working within a small school community, this is a hands-on specialist teaching position supporting students with complex learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs. You will work directly with students while collaborating closely with teachers, families, support staff and allied health professionals to ensure students can successfully access and participate in learning.
The campus offers modern facilities, technology enabled learning spaces and the resources of a larger education organisation, while retaining the relationships and community of a small school environment.

The Role
As Specialist Learning Support Teacher, you will play an important role in helping students with additional and complex needs access the curriculum, build independence and participate meaningfully in school life.
Your responsibilities will include:
Provide specialist teaching and direct support to students with diverse and complex learning needs
Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans and personalised learning programs
Plan appropriate differentiation, interventions and curriculum adjustments aligned with NCCD requirements
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support successful student integration and participation
Partner with families, allied health professionals and support staff to provide a consistent approach to student learning and wellbeing
Implement effective behaviour and engagement strategies, including trauma informed practice and Positive Behaviour Support
Utilise AAC, visual supports and strategies for expressive and receptive communication
Support the development and delivery of Life Skills programs where appropriate




Mentor and support colleagues to strengthen inclusive teaching practices
Provide respectful personal care support where required, in accordance with individual student care plans and with a solid focus on dignity and confidentiality
To be successful, you will:
Hold current TRBWA registration
Hold relevant teaching and tertiary qualifications
Have a strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and WA curriculum requirements
Demonstrate experience supporting students with neurodiverse and complex learning needs, including Down Syndrome
Have strong skills in individualised education planning, differentiation and NCCD adjustment documentation
Be confident working collaboratively with teachers, families, allied health professionals and support staff
Have an understanding of trauma informed practice and Positive Behaviour Support
Be comfortable using contemporary teaching methods, including video conferencing and online learning resources
Have excellent communication, relationship building and collaboration skills
Hold a current Working With Children Check
Have full, unrestricted Australian working rights
Highly regarded
Experience supporting students with identified high needs autism and/or developing and delivering Life Skills programs.
