Position Information
Albury High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in Albury in the Southern Riverina region of NSW, with an expected enrolment of 1,011 students in ****, including approximately 70 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
The school also supports students with additional learning needs through three Multicategorical classes.
Albury High School provides a comprehensive curriculum that enables every student to learn, grow and belong, with diverse opportunities across academic, creative, sporting, vocational and leadership pursuits.
VET programs are delivered within the school, with additional pathways available through TAFE NSW and strong partnerships with Charles Sturt University, La Trobe University and other educational and community organisations.
The school prioritises student growth and attainment, wellbeing and high-quality teaching through evidence-based professional learning.
Strong learning and wellbeing support, high expectations and positive partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community ensure students are supported to achieve their personal best and successfully transition to future pathways.
Specific Selection Criteria




Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching special education and demonstrated capacity to lead whole-school initiatives that improve access and outcomes for students with disabilities and additional learning needs.
Extensive experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Personalised Learning and Support Plans (PLSPs), Student Tailored Risk Management Plans, and Behaviour Response Plans in collaboration with staff, families, and external support agencies.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and departmental policy (e.g., Disability Standards for Education, the NSW Inclusive Education Strategy and Implementation Plan).
Proven ability to support classroom teachers in differentiating curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy to meet diverse student needs, including delivering career development, combined with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with parents/carers, school staff, allied health professionals, and community agencies to support student achievement and wellbeing.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs




Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
