Permanent / Full Time
Take leadership of its North Sydney operation.
Heavyweight new projects and redesign of existing structures.
Successfully assume and further develop the Adelaide capability.
Build More Than Projects.
Build a Business.
$*******k depending on experience
Few opportunities allow an experienced Structural Engineer to combine technical credibility with genuine commercial influence and responsibility for the performance of an entire operation.
This is one of them.
An established multi-office engineering consultancy is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer / Branch Manager to take leadership of its North Sydney operation.
This is a significant appointment within the business.
You will have the autonomy to influence strategy, strengthen existing client relationships, develop new opportunities, grow and mentor the team and ensure the branch continues to perform both technically and commercially.
You will remain connected to engineering and major project delivery, but at this level your value goes considerably further than producing calculations or managing individual projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leadership and overall management of the North Sydney operation
P&L;, profitability and commercial performance
Strategic planning and continued business growth
Leadership, mentoring and development of the structural team
Resource planning and management of project workloads
Technical oversight across significant structural projects
Maintaining quality, programme and project delivery standards
Developing and strengthening key client relationships
Business development and identification of current opportunities
Supporting proposals, tenders and fee negotiations
Working closely with other offices and senior leaders across the consultancy
We're looking for someone who understands how a successful engineering consultancy actually operates.
You'll be comfortable discussing a complex structural solution with an engineer one moment and sitting with a client discussing fees, programmes, commercial issues and future projects the next.
Your background will ideally include substantial Australian building structures experience across areas such as commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial or institutional developments.
Just as importantly, you will have demonstrated leadership ability and the commercial judgement required to manage people, clients, projects and profitability.
You may already be a Principal, Associate Director or Branch Manager.
Alternatively, you could be an accomplished Associate who has reached the point where you are ready to take responsibility for an operation of your own.
The package of approximately $230K–$250K + Super reflects the seniority and importance of this role and will ultimately depend on the experience and capability you bring.
For someone who has spent years building their technical and professional reputation, the next move doesn't necessarily need to be about another title.
It can be about having the authority and platform to build something of your own within the security and resources of an established consultancy.
Note:
Only Australian / New Zealand applicants with local experience are encouraged to apply.
