The Team
The Employee Relations team forms part of People and Culture within the Department of Health. The team provides specialist advice, consultancy and support to managers and Human Resources professionals across the Agency on a broad range of employee relations matters, including employment legislation, industrial awards and agreements, workplace investigations, complaint and grievance management, and policy development. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Department, the team contributes to the delivery of a positive, protected and productive workplace culture that supports high-quality health services for the Tasmanian community
The Role
As a Workplace Relations Consultant (Employee Relations), you will provide high-level employee relations advice and consultancy services to managers and HR professionals across the Department of Health. The role is responsible for supporting the management of complex employee relations matters, including grievances, complaints, disciplinary processes, workplace investigations and industrial issues. You will contribute to the development of policies and procedures, undertake research and analysis on employment-related matters, prepare reports and submissions, liaise with key external agencies, and support the Department in achieving best practice employee relations outcomes.
You will need
High level knowledge and understanding of contemporary human resource management issues, employment legislation and industrial Awards/Agreements as they apply within the Tasmanian State Service context; together with a sound understanding of the principles of procedural fairness and their practical application in a contemporary HR service.
Demonstrated skills and experience in providing a high-level HR and Employee Relations consultancy service in relation to dealing with complex issues including legislation interpretation, complaint handling and dispute resolution, within the political,



social and organisational environment of health and human services in the public sector.

Details of appointment
fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing January **** until 31 December ****.
Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement ****
