Job Description The Payroll Governance Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in strengthening payroll governance, enhancing compliance controls and supporting payroll audit activities across the organisation.
Working closely with Payroll, HR, Legal, Audit and Technology stakeholders, you will help ensure payroll processes remain compliant with relevant legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and internal governance requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct payroll compliance reviews,



testing and audit activities Investigate payroll discrepancies and undertake root cause analysis Support and maintain payroll governance and compliance frameworks Maintain compliance risk registers and control documentation Interpret Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation Analyse large payroll data sets to identify risks and anomalies Prepare compliance reporting and management insights Partner with Payroll, HR, Legal and Audit stakeholders on compliance initiatives Identify opportunities to strengthen payroll controls and processes Support internal and external audit requirements with quality documentation and evidence packs The Successful Applicant Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements Experience working within a large, complex and high-volume payroll workplace Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills High attention to detail and a proactive mindset Experience using payroll systems and Excel to analyse payroll data A passion for continuous improvement and strengthening payroll compliance outcomes What's on Offer Specialist payroll governance and compliance opportunity Significant organisational scale and complexity Exposure to 20+ Awards and Enterprise Agreements Hybrid working with only one office day per week Potential remote working options Supportive and highly experienced leadership team Genuine career progression opportunities Opportunity to make a tangible impact on payroll governance, risk and compliance outcomes Market-leading organisation with a proactive compliance culture
