The Role We are currently seeking a high-calibre Lawyer to join our Competition practice, working closely with Partner, Mark Grime.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Sydney.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a sophisticated practice advising on complex and strategically significant competition and consumer law matters.
The role will involve working with leading clients across a range of sectors on the full range of competition law matters, including merger clearances, ACCC investigations, infrastructure access, and advising on cartel and anti-competitive conduct issues, misuse of market power, consumer law risk, and broader regulatory strategy.
You will be part of a growing team known for delivering technically excellent, commercially astute and pragmatic advice.
The role offers strong development opportunities for a lawyer who is intellectually rigorous, client-focused and motivated to build a specialist practice in competition law.
In this role, you will work on a broad mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters, will work closely with partners and senior lawyers on complex legal and strategic issues, and contribute to client development initiatives, market engagement and thought leadership.
About you We are interested in candidates with 3+ years of post-qualification experience who are admitted as a lawyer in Australia, with a current Australian practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
You will have: Demonstrated experience (or a strong interest in) advising on competition, antitrust, and consumer law matters including merger clearances and contentious ACCC matters.
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and regulatory guidance.
Excellent drafting and written communication skills for advice, submissions, and court or regulatory documents.
Capability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure in a high-performance environment.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work within cross-functional teams and build client relationships professionally.
Experience in dealing with regulators (e.g., ACCC) and/or regulatory litigation or dispute resolution is highly regarded.
Proficiency with legal research tools and comfort working in a technology-enabled, hybrid workplace.
ACCC experience will be highly regarded and candidates from the ACCC are encouraged to apply.
