Senior Merchandise Planner - Parental Leave Cover (Early December Start)
Cue Clothing Co. is looking for a commercially minded and experienced Merchandise Planner to join our Planning team at Head Office in Surry Hills on a 12 month parental leave contract.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the commercial side of fashion and enjoys using data, insights and strategy to influence what we buy, how much we buy and ultimately what lands on the shop floor.
Working closely with our Head of Planning, Executive Management and wider Planning team, you'll play a key role in driving sales, margin and stock productivity across the business.
If you're analytical, commercially driven and enjoy turning numbers into decisions that have a real impact, keep reading.
What you'll be doing
Planning the commercial picture
You'll take ownership of the merchandise planning process, working across sales, stock and inventory to ensure we have the right product, in the right quantities, at the right time.
You'll manage budgets and OTB, using commercial insights and performance data to make informed decisions and support the overall financial performance of the business.
Staying close to performance
You'll regularly analyse sales, style and inventory performance, identifying trends, opportunities and risks and translating these insights into clear commercial actions.
You'll monitor stock productivity and markdown performance, ensuring we're maximising sales and margin while maintaining healthy inventory levels.
This is a role where you'll need to understand not just what the numbers are telling you, but why they're happening and what we should do about them.
Planning the range
You'll work closely with our Design, Buying and wider Merchandise teams on range and option planning, helping shape a commercially balanced assortment that meets customer demand.
You'll bring together product,
sales and stock insights to support decisions around depth, options and inventory investment.
Working across the business
You'll build strong relationships with stakeholders across Planning, Buying, Design, Production, Retail and Executive Management.
You'll be comfortable challenging thinking, sharing insights and influencing decisions, while also being someone who can roll up your sleeves and get into the detail.
You'll also play an important role in developing and mentoring an Allocator, helping build capability within the Planning team.
You'll be great for this role if you have:
5+ years' experience as a Merchandise Planner within fashion retail, preferably women's fashion
A proven track record in maximising sales and margin while delivering stock targets
Strong experience across budgeting, OTB management, sales analysis and inventory planning
A strong understanding of range and option planning
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large amounts of data
Strong commercial and analytical capability, with the ability to turn data into practical decisions
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with people at all levels
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
A proactive and solutions-focused approach
Experience developing or mentoring junior team members
You're probably someone who:
Loves fashion but is equally excited by the numbers behind the business
Naturally looks for the story behind the data
Is commercially curious and always thinking about how to improve performance
Is highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Can confidently challenge the status quo and influence decisions
Enjoys working collaboratively but is equally comfortable owning your work
Has strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
Takes pride in seeing your planning decisions translate into stronger sales and healthier stock
Enjoys developing others and sharing your knowledge
