Position: Project Engineer (Civil Engineer)
Basis of Employment: Full-time (38 hours per week)
Salary: $105,000 to $110,000 + Superannuation
Location of workplace: Etheridge Shire Council, Queensland

Etheridge Shire Council is seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and team orientated person with a commitment to providing excellence in the management of projects & assets to achieve a high standard of service delivery within the Engineering Department of Council.

Etheridge Shire Council is located within the heart of the Gulf Savannah Region with its eastern boundary being only 250km's from Cairns. The main township within the Etheridge Shire is Georgetown which is approximately 400km's from Cairns and 400km's from the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The shire has three other townships' being, Mt Surprise, Einasleigh, Forsayth. Mining, Tourism, Beef Cattle and Agriculture are the predominant industries which are the driving factor behind the shire's economy. Project Engineer
Ensure Council's objectives are being met along with undertaking the collection of road data, undertake the approval and inspections of grids throughout the Shire, maintain Quality Assurance programs and documentation, the collection of data for flood claims, assisting the Engineer in preparing quotes for contracts for DTMR and private works and undertake Dam inspections and ensure compliance with the Dam regulator.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•Delivery of engineering projects within the Shire;




•Assist in the completion of grant applications, reporting and close out of grants;
•Implementation and maintenance of Council's Quality Assurance system;
•Undertake minor design work;
•Preparation technical reports as required;
•Collect and compile data required for design projects.
•Assist in preparation and submission of claims for construction and maintenance work;
•Identify road assets to be remediated as part of ESC's 10-year capital works programme; determining the extent of works, impacts on other infrastructure, technical requirements and prioritisation criteria to develop project scopes, documented at a 'planning' level.
•Identify the expected cost of individual road asset renewal projects and any potential new & upgrade components, working in consultation with Council's Director of Engineering Services.
•Undertake the development of tender documents for Engineering Works in conjunction with the Director of Engineering Services
•Work Health and Safety
•Project Delivery & Management - Coordinate all investigations, surveys, design, estimation, schedules and documentation of projects within areas of delegated responsibility.
•Prepare quantity and cost estimates for work undertaken.
•Assist in the preparation of yearly budget submissions




•Comply with Council's Purchasing Policy.
•Commitment to Council's Corporate Plan, Policies and Local Laws.
•Conduct all business transactions in an ethical and professional manner.
•Provision of Quality Customer Service.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
•Degree in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent) or demonstrated qualifications and experience in the fields of asset management, GIS and project management.
•Minimum 3 years of full-time relevant experience as a Project Engineer, Civil Engineer, or similar role.
•Experience in the administration of a major asset management system within a highly regulated industry.
•Broad project management skills.
•Current `C' class drivers' licence.
•Current Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card)
•Experience with supervision, training and performance management of staff.
•Knowledge of general engineering techniques including construction and maintenance procedures and practices.
•Sound knowledge of WH&S; legislation, Codes of Practice, Acts and Standards applicable to Engineering and Local Government.
•Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
•High level organisational, communication, management and leadership skills
•Able to demonstrate a background in Road Construction & Maintenance
•Proficiency in relevant engineering and project management software is desirable.
