Location & Workplace
Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before ****. The Local Health District has solid connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) provides public health services to the communities of Gosford City and Wyong Shire Local Government Areas. Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and regional trauma centre for the Central Coast, Wyong Hospital is a major metropolitan hospital while Woy Woy Hospital and Long Jetty Healthcare Centre provide sub-acute care.
What you'll be doing
Partner with Director of Mental Health Nursing / District Director of Service / General Manager and District Clinical / District Director to ensure high quality medical and health care services, safe, efficient, and effective use of resources, aligned with organisational objectives and the Clinical Services Plan.
Collaborate with other senior staff within the department and Site or Directorate, requiring reliable and consistent communication methods to achieve shared tasks.
Act as a key enabler to enhance patient flow by ensuring the appropriate and timely interaction of team members with Emergency Department admissions and Allied Health and other staff to limit the Length of Stay of those admissions whilst under their care.
Disseminate information for actioning or decision making amongst the Department and represent that team at Site and Area HOD meetings.
Lead the overall clinical governance of mental health services, including Annual Performance Reviews,



and develop and implement clinical models of care consistent with best practice and quality improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination/Staff Specialist (State) Award.
Recognised specialist qualifications; Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and / or other equivalent specialist recognition. (Applicants expecting to be awarded their fellowship within six months may be considered. If successful the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.)
Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Psychiatry.
Ability to work constructively and effectively in a Multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students; previous experience in teaching the management of the deteriorating patient would be advantageous.
Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align to the NSW CORE Values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
Eligibility and Conditions
Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
Employment is subject to having current immunity status that complies with the Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.
