OVERVIEW The Compliance Assistant at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) supports international student recruitment and compliance activities within the DVC International portfolio. This full-time fixed-term role focuses on Genuine Student (GS) assessment, international student management compliance, and monitoring trends related to student recruitment and visa requirements. The position contributes to maintaining the sustainability and competitiveness of the university's international student program within the Australian higher education sector. UTS is a public university of technology located in Sydney, Australia, with a strong international focus and culturally diverse campus community. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and requires flexibility to support overseas market requirements.
Key responsibilities
Contribute to the university's international student recruitment and management compliance activities.
Maximise the sustainability of the international student program.
Assess students against Genuine Student (GS) criteria.
Support management of Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) risk ratings.
Compile and analyse information related to GS processing.
Monitor and report on emerging trends and issues.
Process student release requests and refunds for commencing students.
Work flexible schedule to meet the requirements of overseas markets.
Requirements
Degree with relevant experience,
and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
Skills and experience conducting GS assessments and interviews.
Familiarity with the regulatory environment for international students in Australia, including the ESOS Act, National Code, and SSVF/GS requirements in a university setting.
Demonstrated experience in data analysis, identifying emerging trends, and reporting.
Extensive knowledge and experience in international higher education.
Strong proficiency using PRISMS and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated proficiency creating and managing Excel spreadsheets.
Experience assessing and processing student release requests and refunds.
Ability to work under pressure with constant and concurrent deadlines.
Experience in the Australian higher education system.
Understanding of administrative systems and admission and enrolment processes for international students in a university environment.
