Consultant Anaesthetist
to join a major tertiary referral hospital in Tropical Queensland.
This is an opportunity to build your career within a large and supportive anaesthetic department, delivering
more than 16,000 procedures annually across 14 operating theatres
, with exposure to an exceptional breadth of complex elective and emergency anaesthesia.
You will join an established team where clinical excellence, teaching, professional development and service innovation are strongly supported.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The department provides anaesthetic services across a comprehensive range of tertiary specialties, including:
Cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery
Neurosurgery and neuroradiology
Paediatric anaesthesia
Tertiary obstetrics
Trauma and emergency surgery
Complex general surgery
ENT, urology and plastic surgery
Acute Pain Service
Perioperative medicine
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will have opportunities to contribute to:
Registrar supervision and training
Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Clinical governance and quality improvement
Research and academic activity
Service development
Multidisciplinary collaboration

ATTRACTIVE REMUNERATION PACKAGE
The position offers a highly competitive remuneration package, including:
Package up to $546,915 per annum
50% attraction and retention allowance
5% regional attraction allowance
Motor vehicle allowance of $21,000–$25,500




Professional development allowance of $21,500
3.6 weeks professional development leave
Four to six weeks annual leave

ABOUT YOU To Be Considered, You Will Have
FANZCA, or an international specialist qualification assessed as substantially comparable by ANZCA
Specialist registration with AHPRA, or eligibility to obtain registration
Broad experience in complex elective and emergency anaesthesia
A commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care
Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
An interest in teaching, supervision and ongoing professional development
International Medical Graduates with an appropriate specialist qualification and
ANZCA/AHPRA pathway eligibility
