UnitingCare Qld has launched the
NQ Safe Program
, a brand-new 24/7 Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) telephone service providing critical support to individuals, families and communities across North Queensland. This is an opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning, helping build a service that delivers safety, guidance and hope when people need it most.
You'll join a passionate team making a real difference every day through compassionate, trauma-informed support and intervention.
Employment Term
: Maximum Term to 30 June ****, Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Service Hours:
The Service is operational 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The hours of work will be on a rotating roster (Morning, Afternoon & Night Shifts).

: From: $***** p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team
The DFV Practitioner is the first point of contact for all phone, email and third party enquiries to the NQ Safe Program. You will provide high-quality intake, screening, triage, risk assessment and support to individuals experiencing domestic and family violence. Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you'll assist clients to navigate services, develop safety plans and access the support they need to move forward safely.
Key Responsibilities
Support individuals impacted by domestic and family violence through trauma-informed, strengths-based practice.
Complete risk assessments, safety planning, and ongoing case support.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and practical guidance to help clients navigate services and achieve their goals.
Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to deliver coordinated, client-centred support.
Advocate for improved outcomes while maintaining high-quality records and compliance standards.
Contribute to a positive team culture and continuously develop your professional practice.
What makes a difference for us?
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline




Experience working within community services along with experience supporting people presenting with complex needs or crisis situations
Demonstrated experience in the Family and Domestic Violence sector is highly regarded
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and/or culturally diverse communities would be advantageous
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Current Queensland Drivers License
Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
A willingness to undergo a criminal history check
