About the role
We are seeking an experienced and energetic Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the Club. Reporting to the Chair of Bar & the Clubs' Management Committee, the Operations Manager will provide hands-on leadership across hospitality, staffing, member services, functions, facilities, compliance and business performance. This is a highly visible role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable managing budgets and operational requirements as they are being front-of-house, supporting staff, engaging with members and ensuring the Club delivers an outstanding experience. You will work closely with the Club's employees, volunteers and Management Committee to ensure efficient day-to-day operations while helping identify and deliver opportunities for future growth.
Key responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the Club across hospitality, administration, bowls and facilities.
Recruit, lead, support and develop staff, fostering a positive, professional and service-focused culture.
Effectively roster and manage staff to meet operational requirements and controllable labour costs.
Maintain a visible front-of-house presence, particularly during busy periods, functions and key Club events.
Build robust and productive relationships with members, volunteers, suppliers, sponsors and community partners.
Establish and maintain effective operational procedures and service standards.
Oversee the Club's bar and hospitality operations, ensuring consistently high standards of service.
Work closely with the Functions and Administration team to ensure functions are professionally planned, coordinated and delivered from initial enquiry through to completion.




Support the continued growth and commercial success of the Mosman Bay River Room, barefoot bowls, corporate events, weddings, private functions and community events.
Identify opportunities to improve the member and guest experience, increase utilisation and grow hospitality and function revenue.
About you
Experience managing a licensed hospitality venue, sporting club, community organisation or similar operation.
Demonstrated experience leading, rostering and developing staff.
Strong hospitality and customer service experience.
Sound financial and commercial management skills, including budgeting, labour management, purchasing and stock control.
Experience managing functions and events.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
The confidence to work effectively with the Clubs' Management Committee, members, volunteers, staff and external stakeholders.
A proactive, practical and solutions-focused management style.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and key Club events.
Current RSA Certificate.
Approved Manager qualification.
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain.
Current Driver's Licence.
