Own HSEQ for a growing Tier 2/3 builder – and sit at the executive table while you do it. Westbury Constructions is looking for an HSEQ Manager to lead, develop and continuously improve its integrated management system across construction, building services and maintenance operations.
About the company
Westbury is a reputable, family-owned builder that has grown from Tier 3 into Tier 2 territory over 15 years – now $85M in turnover with around 40 staff across Sydney, Newcastle and regional NSW – and is building towards a fully integrated building group across three divisions: Construction, Building Services and Maintenance. The business delivers government, education, aged care, community and SDA projects and holds Federal Safety Commissioner accreditation alongside ISO *****, **** and ***** certification. It's known for keeping its people – one of its Directors has been with the business for 15 years and several managers started on the tools.
The role
Reporting to the Group CEO and based at head office in Vineyard with regular site travel, you'll lead a team of HSEQ Advisors and Coordinators and act as Westbury's primary HSEQ representative to clients, regulators and industry bodies. You'll:
Develop, implement and maintain the Integrated Management System across all projects and offices
Maintain FSC accreditation and lead the surveillance audit cycle
Maintain ISO *****, **** and *****, CM3 and contractor prequalification requirements, and coordinate external audits
Review and approve SWMS, CEMPs,

traffic and site safety management plans and risk assessments
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action close-out
Run internal quality audits, ITPs and non-conformance processes across projects
Coach Project Managers, Site Managers and subcontractors on risk management and best practice
Deliver weekly and monthly reporting to the executive leadership team
Support tenders and prequalifications by demonstrating HSEQ capability
About you
5+ years in a senior HSEQ role within construction, ideally Tier 2/3 commercial
Detailed knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and Codes of Practice
Experience managing ISO-certified management systems and external audits – FSC audit experience a strong advantage
Strong incident investigation background – ICAM or equivalent highly regarded
Lead Auditor qualification and Diploma of WHS (or higher) preferred
Experience across education, government or health projects a robust advantage
Able to communicate credibly from site to boardroom
What's on offer
Direct reporting line to the Group CEO and a seat on the executive leadership team
Ownership of an FSC-accredited, certified IMS you'll shape, not one you'll simply maintain
A growing portfolio across government and community sectors, with subcontractor management systems already in place
A family-owned business where tenure and internal progression are the norm
