About the role

Join St John of God Midland Public Hospital as the Administration Manager within our busy Emergency Department. In this key leadership role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of Emergency Department Administrative Support Services, leading a large multidisciplinary administrative team to deliver efficient, responsive and patient-centred services.

Working closely with nursing, medical and operational leaders, you will provide solid leadership to a large administrative workforce, driving service excellence, workforce performance, employee engagement, continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making to support safe, timely and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced 24-hour Emergency Department environment.

Key responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop the Emergency Department administrative team, including Team Leaders, Administrative Assistants and Training Officers, building a high-performing and accountable workforce.

Manage workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, rostering, leave and performance management processes.

Foster a positive team culture through strong people leadership, coaching, mentoring and employee development.

Monitor activity, data quality, service performance and operational KPIs to support continuous improvement.

Analyse operational data and trends to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Develop and implement administrative procedures, business rules and quality assurance initiatives.

Manage departmental resources and contribute to operational planning and budget performance.

Support accreditation, licensing, compliance and quality improvement activities across the department.





Partner with clinical and operational leaders to support patient flow and effective Emergency Department operations.

You are a proven and highly capable people leader with experience leading large administrative teams in a complex healthcare or service environment. You are passionate about developing people, building capability and creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.

You have demonstrated success in workforce management, including recruitment, onboarding, rostering, coaching, employee development and performance management. You are confident managing complex people matters, leading teams through change and motivating staff to achieve service excellence and outstanding patient outcomes.

Along with your strong leadership capability, you possess excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills. You can interpret operational data, identify improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions that enhance service delivery and workforce performance.

Experience with patient administration systems is essential, while qualifications in Health, Business Management or Administration will be highly regarded.

We can offer you

Salary: $110,779 to $114,297, plus 12% superannuation

A Full Time position, working 38 per week
