TIPPER TRUCK DRIVER

Company: Jonesey’s Tipper Hire Pty Ltd
Position: Casual Tipper Truck Driver
Location: Beerburrum, servicing North Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast
Reports to: Managing Director

Position purpose

The Tipper Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating company tipper trucks while completing transport, haulage and material-delivery work. The driver must represent Jonesey’s Tipper Hire professionally and comply with road laws, fatigue requirements, site rules and company procedures.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Safely operate rigid tipper trucks on roads, construction sites, quarries and disposal facilities.
- Transport and tip materials including soil, gravel, sand, asphalt, concrete and other approved loads.
- Complete daily vehicle pre-start and end-of-shift inspections.
- Check tyres, lights, fluids, tailgate, tarp, hoist, PTO, alarms and other safety equipment.
- Report defects, damage, breakdowns, incidents and safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all loading, mass, load-containment, tarp and tipping requirements.
- Confirm the tipping area is level, stable and clear of overhead hazards before raising the body.
- Follow Heavy Vehicle National Law, fatigue-management requirements and work/rest limits.
- Complete work diaries, timesheets, dockets and other records accurately.
- Follow client, quarry and construction-site inductions, traffic-management plans and SWMS.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, machine operators and the public.
- Keep the truck cab and equipment reasonably clean and secure.
- Assist with basic site duties or operate plant only when authorised, trained and competent.




- Attend work fit for duty and notify management promptly if unable to attend an accepted shift.

Required qualifications and experience

- Current HR driver’s licence or higher.
- Previous tipper-truck or civil construction experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a Roadranger gearbox where required.
- Construction White Card.
- Knowledge of fatigue management, load limits and work-diary requirements.
- Ability to complete pre-starts, dockets and timesheets accurately.
- Suitable driving history and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
- Relevant plant tickets are advantageous but not essential.

- Honest when completing work, fatigue and vehicle records.
- Able to work independently and make safe decisions.
- Professional with clients and site personnel.
- Willing to work early starts, varying hours and optional night shifts.
- Takes pride in looking after company vehicles and equipment.

Performance expectations

Performance will be assessed against:

- Safe and lawful driving.
- Reliable attendance and timely communication.
- Accurate dockets, timesheets and fatigue records.
- Care of vehicles and equipment.
- Compliance with site and company procedures.
- Qualified conduct and customer service.
- Prompt reporting of defects, incidents and delays.

Physical and safety requirements

The employee must be capable of safely entering and exiting a heavy vehicle, completing inspections, operating tarps and tailgates, and performing reasonable duties associated with the role. Employees must not drive or work while affected by fatigue, illness, injury, alcohol, illegal drugs or medication that makes the work unsafe.
