Work that matters, done with people who care

Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre is looking for a Labourer who takes pride in practical work and enjoys being outdoors. You help keep the centre clean, safe and well maintained so animals, staff, volunteers and visitors have a welcoming environment every day. Reporting to the Team Leader Impounding and Animal Welfare, you work across the facility carrying out grounds maintenance, minor repairs and general labouring tasks.

Each day you mow lawns, control weeds, collect litter, clean common areas and inspect the site for maintenance issues. You maintain gardens, operate grounds maintenance equipment, move deliveries and supplies, and help keep animal housing areas clean and presentable. You also assist with setting up and maintaining fencing, shelters and exercise areas, support the safe movement of animals when required, and help staff with the day to day operation of the centre.

This role suits someone with experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, labouring or similar work. You work well both independently and as part of a team, have a strong commitment to safety, and are comfortable working around animals.

Join a supportive team and gain opportunities to build practical skills through ongoing training and workplace learning. Every task you complete helps provide a clean,

safe environment for animals while supporting important animal welfare outcomes for the community.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build outstanding cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

- a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,178.88 per week
- penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
- a 38-hour working week
- a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
