Choose your trade

Boilermaker/Welder Apprentice

If you enjoy making things and seeing a project take shape, this trade could suit you. You’ll learn to:

- Read engineering drawings and turn them into finished metal components.

- Cut, shape and assemble steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

- Weld using MIG, TIG and stick welding equipment.

- Operate fabrication equipment and repair industrial plant and machinery.

Fitter & Turner Apprentice

If you’re interested in machinery, solving practical problems and getting the details right, consider fitting and turning. You’ll learn to:

- Make accurate metal components from engineering drawings and samples.

- Operate manual lathes and milling machines.

- Program and operate computer-controlled machines, known as CNC mills and lathes.

- Assemble, maintain and repair mechanical equipment.

- Check finished parts using precision measuring tools.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for practical, curious people who are ready to commit to learning a trade. You’ll bring:

- Reliability—you turn up on time and come ready to work.

- A willingness to listen, ask questions and learn from feedback.

- An interest in solving problems and understanding how things work.

- Care and patience, including when a task takes practice.

- Respect for safety, your workmates and the quality of your work.

Tell us about your practical interests, whether that’s a school workshop project, fixing a bike, making something at home or work experience. Part-time work, sport and other commitments can also demonstrate your reliability and attitude.
