Lead an established team of eight engineers delivering complex customer solutions on a growing enterprise SaaS platform.

This is a hands-on technical delivery role combining engineering leadership, customer delivery and solution design. You will work across multiple customer projects, helping to balance engineering capacity, priorities and realistic customer commitments.

You will remain close enough to the technology to review Java code, challenge designs and guide architectural decisions, but the broader responsibility is making sure the engineering capability delivers successfully for customers.

Formal people management sits with the offshore leadership team. Your role is to provide technical and delivery leadership, maintain engineering standards, keep the team focused and work closely with Delivery Managers on pipeline, capacity, estimates, priorities and customer commitments.

This would suit a Java Technical Lead, Engineering Lead or experienced Senior Java Engineer who has moved beyond pure technical leadership and already has strong customer-facing delivery experience.

What you'll be doing

- Lead the technical delivery of a team of eight offshore engineers across multiple customer projects
- Work with Delivery Managers to manage pipeline, capacity and priorities, making sure engineering effort is aligned to the right customer work
- Provide clear technical direction and keep developers connected to the customer and delivery outcome
- Join customer discussions to understand requirements, explain platform capabilities and challenge approaches where required
- Translate customer requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions
- Design and review APIs,



integrations and customer-specific solutions
- Review Java code and maintain strong engineering standards
- Mentor engineers and create clarity, accountability and consistency across the team
- Balance delivery speed, commercial commitments, maintainability and the long-term direction of the platform

What we're looking for

- Strong, recent Java software engineering experience
- Experience leading the technical delivery of a software engineering team
- Experience working across multiple customer projects or competing delivery priorities
- Solid external customer-facing experience
- Commercial awareness and confidence discussing
- estimates, commitments, capacity and delivery trade-offs
- Hands-on experience with system design, APIs, integrations and scalable architecture
- The engineering judgement to challenge designs, review code and guide technical decisions
- Experience mentoring developers and improving engineering standards
- Ability to work effectively across customers, engineering and delivery stakeholders
- Experience in SaaS, enterprise software, consulting, systems integration or customer-facing software delivery environments
