Are you a passionate physiotherapist with a strong interest in paediatrics? Looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with disabilities while developing your skills in a supportive, physiotherapy-led environment?

Flipper Academy is continuing to grow and expand our services across the South Australian Metropolitan Area! Our group water-based therapy programs focus on bridging the gap between hydrotherapy and learn-to-swim for children with disabilities, helping them build confidence, achieve goals, and develop vital skills.

About the role

You’ll join a dynamic and supportive team delivering tailored, engaging, and evidence-based programs designed to support children across a range of developmental and physical needs, including:

- Water safety and drowning prevention

- Development of gross and fine motor skills

- Strength, coordination and functional movement through hydrotherapy-based principles

- Swimming skills and stroke development

- Hydrotherapy interventions for children with physical disabilities and chronic neurological or genetic conditions

- Social skills, confidence and communication

Our Director brings extensive paediatric experience across both the private and public sectors, ensuring our programs are clinically informed, evidence-based, and delivered to the highest standard.

This role is particularly well suited to a physiotherapist currently working around 20–25 hours per week who is looking to add a further 10–11 meaningful hours to their week.

Flipper Academy is also closely linked with Physkids – Paediatric Physiotherapy Services SA, our paediatric physiotherapy clinic based in Marden. This connection can provide opportunities for ad hoc land-based physiotherapy work within the role, where appropriate, allowing you to further expand your paediatric clinical experience across both aquatic and land-based settings.

What we’re looking for:

- Passion for working with children and helping them achieve their goals

- Solid interest in paediatric physiotherapy and disability

- 1–2 years’ experience in physiotherapy and hydrotherapy practice is preferred we strongly encourage enthusiastic new graduates to apply

- Excellent communication skills with clients and families

- Ability to work successfully with children across varying communication abilities

- Experience with children with disabilities and paediatric populations is preferred but not essential

- Commitment to a minimum 12-month engagement due to the nature of our work and clients we see

- Current AHPRA registration and valid Working with Children and Disability Worker Checks

Bonus skills (not essential):

- Hydrotherapy experience

- Paediatric physiotherapy experience

- Learn to swim or AustSwim accreditation

- APA Level 1 Hydrotherapy and Autism Swim courses

- Neurodevelopmental treatment and assessment experience

- Experience with NDIS framework and functional goal setting
