As the Senior Scientist, Quality and Bacteriology, you will provide specialist scientific and quality expertise across Microbiology Central and the broader Pathology Queensland network. Reporting to the Principal Chief Scientist, Microbiology, you will be a key resource for all aspects of quality management and compliance affecting the Microbiology discipline, both locally at the Central Laboratory and statewide.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high level knowledge, expertise and skill in applying the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, and a high-level understanding of laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in the scientific, technical, and quality aspects of Microbiology across a complex and diverse laboratory environment.
- High Level Knowledge of NATA / TGA / ISO17025 and15189 / NPAAC accreditation/certification requirements with respect to the Microbiology discipline.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing competencies.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing deadlines and quality activities while working with a high degree of independence and initiative.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders and team members and ability to effectively communicate and influence staff.
